2012 Blue Ridge Region 14 Lifetime Achievement Award Recipient

Rita w Lifetime Achievement plaque

Rita Hull, a member of Vienna-Falls Chorus, had a vital role in shaping our Region and the Sweet Adeline International organization.  Like all of us, Rita joined Sweet Adelines to sing, but she quickly rose to administrative leadership positions. She sang lead and was a member of the Vienna-Falls Chorus for almost 40 years.  She loved to teach. Rita was elected to the International Board of Directors and rose quickly to become International President. But the role she enjoyed most was training Regional Leaders. She was a Certified International Faculty member for over 15 years. Regionally, Rita served as Director of Musical Activities, Regent and later as Team Coordinator. Most recently she served as Bylaws and Rules Chairman, and she also served on numerous committees, focusing on leadership and chorus development. Her administrative expertise, wisdom, procedural knowledge, and counsel were highly sought throughout Region 14 and other Regions.  If Rita was going to do something, she committed her whole heart and soul to it, and for that, she will be sorely missed by all who knew her.  We all benefitted from her leadership, counsel, and friendship.  Rita was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in September 2016 and we lost her March 29, 2017.
